Travel Info

Transportation to St. John:

There is no airport on St. John, so visitors to the island have to find alternative modes of transportation to get there. This should not be too difficult, however, as travel between the Virgin Islands is popular and St. John ferry services run frequently. It is best to arrive at Cyril E. King International Airport (STT) on St. Thomas. From there you will need to use taxi service to one of two ferry docks that will take you to St. John: Charlotte Amalie or Red Hook. Taxi drivers are familiar with these docks and can take you there very easily. Once on St. John's Cruz Bay, taxis are abundant to take you to the Westin St. John.

Please note:

Public ferries from St. Thomas to St. John arrive at Cruz Bay, not Great Cruz Bay,  where the Westin St. John is located. Once you arrive on St. John, you will need to seek taxi service (which is plentiful) from Cruz Bay to the Westin St. John on Great Cruz Bay (appx. 5 minutes travel time).

Charlotte Amalie is the closest dock from the airport when arriving into St. Thomas. However, note that the service schedule for Charlotte Amalie is very limited at appx. 6 departures a day at scheduled times (see below) plus the fare is slightly higher than ferry service out of Red Hook. In addition, this is the longest travel time by ferry to St. John at approximately 45 minutes.

Red Hook on the east end of St. Thomas is the most popular service to St. John. The taxi ride is longer, however the ferry departure schedule is frequent and the fare is the least expensive. Duration to St. John from Red Hook is approximately 20 minutes.

At last resort, the Westin St. John offers land transport and ferry service directly to the hotel from the airport and vice versa. Located at baggage claim in the airport, the Westin will handle all your transport needs and get you directly to the Westin St. John Resort's ferry dock. It is the most convenient, but the most expensive route at approximately $95 round trip per person. Please contact the hotel for more information: (340) 714-6028.
